The Challenge
A large national provider of housing and care was entering a pivotal phase of operational transformation. With new leadership in place and rising sector pressures, they urgently required an Interim Property Director who could stabilise performance, provide assurance across compliance, and support the Executive Director of Property and Assets during a complex strategic reset.
The brief called for a seasoned all-rounder with the credibility to operate at executive and board level, and the resilience to manage a large, mixed-tenure portfolio amid regulatory scrutiny. The incoming leader needed to respond to disrepair and damp and mould risks while embedding a more data-led and customer-focused approach.
Our Impact
Through recommendations from within our property network, Neemar Search provided a targeted and high-calibre shortlist of experienced interims with deep housing sector knowledge. Our appointed candidate had an exemplary track record in regulatory preparedness and operational improvement, as well as immediate familiarity with statutory obligations such as HHSRS, Awaab’s Law, and CQC-linked housing compliance.
Within weeks, they had established a stabilising presence across the service, introduced greater rigour to reporting and data, and brought a structured focus to voids, repairs, and complaints handling. Their ability to work in lockstep with the Executive Director enabled progress at both strategic and operational levels, and their visible leadership helped realign regional teams around consistent service delivery. The appointment ensured continuity during a high-risk period and gave the organisation the confidence and capacity to move forward with its long-term asset strategy.
